Why Winter Is Hard on Eczema
Winter is one of the toughest seasons for people with eczema. The dry air, indoor heating, and cold winds all team up against our skin.
My Winter Eczema Survival Tips
Double down on moisturizing. I switch to thicker creams in winter petrolatum
based or ceramides.
Use a humidifier indoors. It helps keep my skin from drying out overnight.
Short lukewarm showers. I avoid hot baths even though they are tempting.
Protective clothing. Gloves and scarves help shield sensitive areas.
Gentle laundry detergent. Winter is when my skin reacts most, so I stick to
fragrance free detergents.
Stay mindful of stress. Winter blues and stress can trigger flare ups.
Journaling and light exercise help.
The good news is that with the right routine, you can still enjoy the season without constant flare ups. Winter does not have to mean weeks of painful skin. It just means adjusting how you care for yourself.
